From 3D Printing to Thermoforming Tools – Efficient Solutions with ALWA MOULD D
Silvio Piperato from GeNull developed a model car using additive manufacturing. The structure consisted of 3D-printed and bonded parts, including integrated 3D-printed core displacers to strategically reduce material usage during casting.
The fully assembled model was then cast with ALWA MOULD D, resulting in a high-precision positive mold ready for immediate use in the thermoforming process.
Benefits of this combination:
-
Fast mold production directly from the 3D-printed model
-
High level of detail without extensive post-processing
-
Material efficiency through targeted use of core displacers
-
No post-curing required, the tool is ready for use immediately
The combination of 3D printing and MOULD D opens up new possibilities for prototype and small series production. Especially for custom designs or iterative development processes, this method saves time, material, and cost, without compromising on tooling quality.
